What Is Backflow Testing?
Backflow testing is the annual inspection and certification of a backflow prevention assembly — the device installed on your water line to prevent contaminated water from flowing back into the public water supply. California law requires this test to be performed by a certified backflow tester and the results reported to your water district.
At Ontario Backflow Tests, we perform certified backflow testing for all assembly types: double check valves (DCV), reduced pressure zone devices (RPZ), pressure vacuum breakers (PVB), and atmospheric vacuum breakers (AVB). We serve residential properties, commercial buildings, warehouses, irrigation systems, and industrial facilities.
After testing, we file your results directly with City of Ontario Utilities and all 12 water districts in our service area. You receive a copy for your records — no forms, no trips to the water department. If your device fails, we can repair and retest in the same visit.
Why It Matters
Backflow prevention is required by California law to protect the public water supply from contamination caused by cross-connections. Without an annual test and certification, your water district — typically City of Ontario Utilities — can issue a non-compliance notice and ultimately suspend your water service.
Ontario's dense commercial and warehouse corridor creates a particularly high risk environment for backflow incidents. Industrial water users, food processing operations, and large irrigation systems all require reliable, compliant backflow prevention. Missing your annual test isn't just a fine risk — it's a public health issue.
